I admit to absenting myself from this blog for a very long time. It all started when I crashed during a WordPress version upgrade and could no longer administer it. I’ve had technical support help me but I still couldn’t regain full rights to manage the original blog site any longer.

I’ve just rebuilt the entire blog in a new directory and can only hope that I won’t do this to myself again.

It’s not working, this 2 hour a day thing. I’ve put some more effort into the last drawing and I’ve started another drawing. Both are freely and loosely drawn from photos. I have a lot of waterfowl around me to work with.

I’m in my new location and trying to settle in. I’ve done some work on my website, based on some valuable feedback.

Working on background color and image sizes. I’m not finished. So, more to come.

I did finally fix the lightbox issue today, and will next work on a bio. I have much right now that is taking me away from this. I’m moving to a new location on Friday. Much work required to prepare for this.

another change

Today I changed the background, lightening it up a bit, and I changed the base, bringing more local color into it. I added a shadow but will change it to an appropriate color for this object’s shadow. It’s fun to work the paint up this way. I love the feel of it.

I’m still unsuccessful with getting lightbox to work on this site. Frustrating. And I’m totally befuddled.

I’ve changed the background color and added a base upon which the mill sits. I didn’t spend a lot of time on it because I’m struggling with getting lightbox to work on this blog.

I also have a lot of work to do posting all my paintings to this site.

a first sketch

I finally got all of my tools together in one place and painted a quick first sketch. I didn’t have anything in mind when I put in the background, but now as I reflect, I’ve decided I like the sketch, will continue on with it, and will change the background to a green-toned one (the blue-tone doesn’t work for me), and put the mill on a white cloth base. It’s good to smell paint again. I have another few hours to put in on this painting.

my Yarka travel easel

Yesterday I cut a piece of teak to make a little platform on my smallest travel easel, the Yarka, that will allow me to work on small canvases. I find that I need to additionally cut some grooves in the board to hold the canvases in place.

I’m determined to avoid buying anything new if there’s any way at all that I can make due with what I have. I’ve had this easel for so long they’ve since gone out of the business of making them.
